      Lyman J. Gage, 71, died June 21 in a Springville, Cal., hospital following a short illness. He was born December 29, 1896, in Huntsville and moved to Springville 23 years ago.

      On March 21, 1920, he and Winnie Reed were married in Huntsville and, with their several children, moved to California in 1930, making their first home in Fullerton. Mr. and Mrs. Gage were honored on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary last March when more than 300 relatives and friends attended a reception held in the Memorial building in Springville.

      Their next move was to Delano, Calif., where Mr. Gage worked on a ranch and also did carpentry work. All seven of their children were graduated from Delano High School, four of their five sons served in the Army and Air Force.
      Mr. and Mrs. Gage moved to Springville in 1947.

      He was a member of the California State Council of Houndsmen club and the Tule River Houndsmen Association.

      In addition to his widow, Mr. Gage leaves five sons, L.J. Jr., of Concord, Calif., Joseph R. of Livermore, Calif., Louis E. of Buckley, Wash., Bill of Bakersfield, and Bob of Taft; two daughters, Mrs. Berniece Hardwood and Mrs. Betty Kouklis, both of Delano, Calif.; four brothers, Andrew of Buena Park, Calif., Oren of Midway City, Calif., Bob of Huntsville, and Alan of Porterville, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Ella King and Mrs. Lorene Haas, both of Fullerton, Calif., and Mrs. Winifred Hempel of San Jose, Calif.; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

      Funeral services were at 10 a.m. June 24 in the Loyd Chapel with burial in a Springville cemetery.
