Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Bateman, 71, who died at East Point Hospital, Ft. McPherson, Georgia, Sunday night will be held Friday, March 23 at ten o'clock in the chapel of the First Baptist Church, Springdale. The pastor, Rev. Burton Miley will officiate, and music will be furnished by Mrs. R. N. Shaw at the organ.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Dean Brogdon, Jim Brogdon, Max Brogdon, Joe Brogdon, Jack Ingrum and Dan Ingrum. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery under direction of Callison-Sisco funeral home.
Mrs. Bateman was born September 7, 1884, at Cleburne, Texas, the daughter of W. B. and Dee Brogdon. She came to Springdale when she was three years old, where the family became prominent in the fruit industry and in affairs of the Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late J. H. Bateman and a member of the First Baptist Church. She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. William E. Boyd at Ft. McPherson, Georgia for the past 18 months.
Other survivors in addition to her daughter are three brothers, Hal Brogdon, Byron Brogdon and Lofton Brogdon, all of Springdale; five sisters, Mrs. Will Ingrum of Redondo Beach, Calif., Mrs. Grace McIntosh and Mrs. Naomi Williams, both of Ventura, Calif., Miss Midge Brogdon of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Frances McDowell of Boerne, Texas.
