Samuel was born in Penn's township, Northumberland county, Pa., April 15, 1803; died near Jersey Shore, Pa.. December 19, 1862. He was married to Catherine Nepley, who was born in the vicinity of Jersey Shore, Pa., Sept. 18, 1801; died August 31, 1857. Both are buried in Pine Creek Cemetery near Jersey Shore. Samuel was a farmer. In politics he was a Democrat at first, but in 1860 became a Republican.
There were six children, two sons and four daughters.
I. Catherine was born January 15, 1828; died June 30, 1863; buried in Jersey Shore Cemetery. She was married to William Livergood, Jersey Shore, Pa. Mr. Livergood is still living.
II. William A. died Sept. 12, 1855, aged 25 years, 6 months, 27 days ; buried by the side of his parents in Pine Creek Cemetery near Jersey Shore.
III. Jane was married to James Fry, Illinois. Jane is deceased, but date of death could not be ascertained.
IV. Harriet was born February 27, 1831; died Jan. 29, 1865. She was married to Edward B. Blackwell. Jersey Shore. He died Nov. 2. 1872, aged 13 years, 2 months, 11 days; both are buried in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
V. George is married to Ada Ilussleton, New Jersey.
