Notes - History of Lycoming County:
Michael Myers was born in Nippenose township & attended the common schools of is birthplace, he then passed to the West Branch high school in Jersey Shore, afterward taking a course at the Commercial College at Pittsburg. In August 12,1862 he enlisted in Company G 13th Regiment Pa Cavalry & was mustered in Sept. 4,1862. He served in many Civil War Actions. His regiment was transferred to Wilmington North Carolina & attached to the command of General Terry. He was escort to Gen. W T Sherman on the surrender of General Joseph E Johnson. He was honorably discharged July 14,1865.
On his return home he was engaged as a bookkeeper in the lumber office of Finney & Barrows Lock Haven & when they transferred to Williamsport, he remained with them until 1870. He spent a year in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin as a bookkeeper. He returned to Williamsport in 1876.
Mr. Myers is a member of the Reno Post No. 64 & he belong to the Encampment No. 47 Union Veteran Legion.
Politically he is a Republican & attends Trinity Protestant Episcopal Church.
Mr. Myers married Susan Amellia Painter of Muncy, the daughter of William P I Painter. [2]

Michael was born Nov. 10, 1843; married Dec. 17, 1885, to S. Amelia, daughter of Hon. William P. I. Painter, Muncy, Pa., a former member of the Pennsylvania Legislature and Associate Judge of Lycoming county, Pa. She was born at Muncy, April 13, 1850. She is a member of the Protestant Episcopal Church. In the late war, Michael was a member of Company G, 13th Pennsylvania Cavalry. He enlisted at Jersey Shore, Pa., and was mustered into service September, 1862; honorably discharged from service at Raleigh, N. C., July 14, 1865.
