Lillard Lyen HARRODSBURG:
Lillard Lyen, 74, of Lexington, formerly of Mercer County, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington. Born July 21, 1917, in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Robert Sprole and Mary Lillard Lyen.
A retired employee of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Adeline Gritton Lyen; a son, William L Lyen of Baltimore, Md.; and a grandson.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, by the Revs. Elwood Norton and Doug Slagle. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Parker, Marshall Satterly, John Kelver, William Adams, Billy Mac Gritton and James Wilmot Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the funeral chapel Memorials are suggested to Horizon Center or God's Pantry, both in Lexington.

HARRODSBURG (Spl.) -Funeral for Robert Sprole Lyen, 91, of Lexington, who died at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Meadowbrook Personal and Intermediate Care Home there in Lexington, services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at McClellan Funeral Home, Harrodsburg. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. The Rev. C. William Allen will officiate. Masonic services will be held at 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Born July 15 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late John T. and Alice Birdwhistle Lyen. He was retired farmer and belonged to Harrodsburg United Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of Mercer Lodge No. 777.
Survivors include son, S. Lillard of Lexington; grandson, William L. Lyen of Lexington; a great-grandson, Robert M. Lyen of Lexington; a brother, H. T. Lyen of Danville, and a sister, Mrs. Harry Davenport of Paris.
Pallbearers for the funeral will be David Woods, Kenneth Parker, Marshall Satterly, Haldon Durr, I. C. James III and Harry Terhune III. Harry C. Smit.

HARRODSBURG - Mrs. Mary Lillard Lyen, 78, wife of R.S. (Sprole) Lyen of the Shakertown Road-Burgin area in Mercer County, died at 12:40 a.m. Thursday at the Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg. She was a native of Mercer County and a member of the United Presbyterian Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, a son, S.L. Lyen, and a grandson, William L. Lyen both of Lexington.
Funeral services were conducted today at 2 p.m. at the Bruner - Sims - McClellan Funeral Home, Harrodsburg. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

LILLARD
A death that has brought deep sadness and shock to her numerous friends was that of Mrs. James M. Lillard last Thursday, who took her life at her home on the Burgin and Shakertown pike. Mrs. Lillard was about 50 years of age, a lovely and lovable woman, but for sometime past she had not been well, suffering with nervous depression that was unusual to her nature, but the result of an attack of influenza last winter. Just after noon, last Thursday she went to the attic of their pretty bungalow home, and when Mr. Lillard missed her about a quarter of an hour later and went in search of her, he found her suspended from the rafter by a small rope, which she had placed about her neck and evidently thrown her whole weight upon, for life was gone when he loosed the cord. Mrs. Lillard was formerly Miss Nannie Gritton and a splendid woman who was held in the highest esteem by every one who knew her. Sometime ago their home on the Jackson pike where they had been living for about twenty years, was sold and Mr. and Mrs. Lillard moved to the handsome bungalow which they purchased from Mr. Gwinn, on the Burgin and Shakertown pike, and since then her nervous depression seemed to have increased resulting in temporary insanity. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church in this city, conducted by Rev. J. J. Rice, and the interment was at Spring Hill cemetery. Besides her husband she is survived by an only daughter, Mrs. R. Sprole Lyen, of this county.

Harrodsburg, Ky., March 6. - Mrs. James M. Lillard, 50 years old, wife of a wealthy farmer, was found dead, hanging to a rafter in her home on the Shakertown and Burgin pike.
