    Funeral services for Edward Lee Taber, 89, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
    He was born on December 5, 1928 at Birch Tree, Missouri and on March 5, 1931 Ed was legally adopted by Ray E. and Mary Elizabeth (Gritton) Taber in Texas County, Missouri. He passed away on March 10, 2018 at West Vue Nursing Center.
    He attended grade school in the Harlow District of Texas County, graduating from Summersville High School on May 2, 1947. Ed was a Korean Veteran, 2nd Division serving in the United States Army. On February 21, 1953 he married his lifelong sweet heart, Eva May Hall at Salem, Arkansas. They had two children, Josephine and Ricky Taber. Eva and Ed lived in multiple states over the course of their married life, returning to West Plains in the late 1980

    Edwin Lee Gritton, son of Floyd and Sarah Evans Gritton was born September 16, 1862, in Mercer County, Bondville, Ky., and departed this life in Memorial Hospital, March 20, 1953, making him 90 years, 6 months and 4 days old.
    He was united in marriage to Susan M. Herndon of Anderson county, Kentucky 55 years ago. To this union was born 6 children, four sons and two daughters, all of whom survive, expect one son who died in infancy. Left to mourn his passing is his aged wife, three sons, A.H. of Spokane, Washington, Mitt C., of Hermiston, Ore., W. Terrill of Summersville, Mo., Mrs. Mary E. Taber, Mountain View, Mo., and Mrs. Ada Becker of Mountain View. Also surviving are six devoted grandchildren, Edward Lee, Martha Sue and Al Ray Taber, and Edwin, John Lee and Suehelen Gritton; seven nieces and five nephews, most of whom reside in his home state of Kentucky. Many other relatives, a host of friends and loving neighbors will miss him for to know him was to love him. His parents, four brothers, one of them his twin, and three sisters all preceded him in death.
    He joined the Methodist Church of Salvisa, Ky., very young in life and remained a staunch worker for his Lord until the end.
    After moving to the Western part of the United States with his young family, he was ordained a Methodist minister and followed this work many years before ill health forced him to retire.
    In the early twenties he moved from the west to an Ozark farm in Texas County, near Arroll, Missouri, where he lived, until he and his wife moved with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Becker to Mountain View about six years ago.
    Funeral services were held at the Mountain View Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Neal Neff officiating. Burial was in the Arroll Cemetery.

    Susan Mildred Herndon, daughter of Alvin G. and Mildred Catlett Herndon, was born April 16, 1875, in Anderson County, Ky. Departed this life in the Memorial Hospital in Mountain View, Mo., September 22, 1955, at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 6 days.
    She was united in marriage to Edwin Lee Gritton on February 2, 1898. He preceded her in death march 20, 1953.
    Five children born to this union live to mourn the passing of their sainted mother. A.H. Gritton and Mitt C. of Spokane, Wash, Terrill of Summersville, Mo., Mary E. Taber and Ada V. Becker of Mountain View, Mo. Two brothers, John G. and Bayard F. Herndon of Alton Station, Ky., two sisters Nancy Vawter of Shelbyville, Ky., and Essie Martin of Chicago, Ill. Her father, mother, four brothers and four sisters and one infant son preceded her in death. She has 6 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends who will miss her.
    She was a wonderful wife and mother and was a great help to her husband in his church work, and helped many find Christ.
    Funeral services were held at the Arroll Church with Rev. Neal Neff officiating, on Sunday, September 25 at 2:30 p.m.
    Burial was in the Arroll Cemetery under the direction of Duncan Funeral Home.

    Died at his home on Salt river, last Wednesday night, Mr. N. L. ?? Gritton, aged 84 years. The deceased had from childhood been a consistent member of the Methodist church, and was doubtless ready for the summons. Besides his devoted wife he leaves to mourn their loss, Messrs. William, Orie and Lige, and their sister, Mrs. W. G. Vaughn. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in our village, and the remains laid to rest in Providence cemetery.
