251 Crash victim dies.
Injuries fatal to Rolla O. Moss
Rolla Oliver Moss, 72, of Danville Route 3, northeast of Danville, died Sunday (Nov. 18, 1956) in Lake View Hospital, where he had been a patient since Thursday.

He had suffered injuries in a two-car collision on the Bowman Ave. Rd. south of Bismarck last Thursday morning. He is the 24th traffic fatality in Vermilion County this year.

A retired farmer and stock buyer, he was born in Blount Township Jun 3, 1884, son of John Burton and Martha Isabell Watson Moss. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mr. Moss on Aug. 10, 1904, married Merle L. Hoover who died March 19, 1930. On April 29, 1936, he married Minnie Frumm who preceded him in death march 13, 1956.

Surviving are five children by the first marriage, John F. of Perrysville, Frank of Alvin Route 1, Paul of Danville Route 3, and Mrs. Florence Huffman and Mrs. Marjorie Ping, also of Alvin Route 1; three brothers, Ernest U. and Frances Elmer Moss, both of Danville, and Era B. Moss of Danville Route 3; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A daughter died in infancy.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Edmund & Dickson Funeral Home with the Rev. W. C. Billingsley officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery, northwest of Danville. The body is at the funeral home.

253 D. Woodson Rites Friday
Services for Delbert Elder Woodson, 75, 3000 Van Highway, Tyler, are set for 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Bro. David Hill officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Woodson died Wednesday evening at his home after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 14, 1906, in Waurika, Okla., and had been a resident of Tyler the past eight years. He was a member of the Park Heights Baptist Church and was retired from Halliburton Services.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby L. Woodson of Tyler; two sons, Jimmy Woodson of Forney and Jack D. Woodson of Jacksonville; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Pace of Whitehouse; one sister Mrs. Helen Wells; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Hill, J.P. Buck Thompson, Louie Carroll, Royce Cates, Richard Murr and Robert Lowrence.

254 Daisy B. Cline, 89, of Danville, passed away at 4:05 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010 at Provena USMC in Danville.
She was born in Danville on Aug. 6, 1921 to Hainan and Lottie Holycross Ritter. On April 12, 1942, she married Keith "Pappy" Cline. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1992.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Thompson and Brenda (Scott) Williams; six grandchildren, Bill (Terri) Pankow, Jerry (Trish) Pankow, John Pankow, Keith (Joanie) Williams, Shawn Williams and Misty (Bill) Klein; 11 great-grandchildren, Amy (Mike) Stark, Tyson, Brad and Ashley Pankow, Ryan Williams, Corey and Blake Pankow, Samantha and William Klein, Preston and Hailee Williams and four great-great grandchildren, Joey and Jeremiah Pankow, and Logan and Jackson Stark.
Her parents; two brothers, Charles and Roy Ritter and her sister, Thelma Bracewell also preceded her in death.

259 DANIELS---Charles S. Daniels, age 30, died early Saturday morning at his home, 602 Ida avenue. He Is survived by his wife, two brothers, Lee and Abner Daniels of Kansas City, Kansas; and two sisters. Mrs. Fred Pavey of Wichita and Mrs. George Harold of Kansas City, Kansas. The deceased had only lived here a few months coming here from Victor, Colo., for the benefit of his health. The body will be shipped to Fort Scott, Kansas, at 10:00 o'clock Sunday morning, where funeral services will be held and interment made. The body is in charge or the Wichita undertaking. company.

260 Danville Commercial News June 6, 1916 - She and her husband had always made their home in Blount Township. Mrs Grimes was the mother of nine children, but all except three have passed away. These are W.S. Grimes of the city. Mrs Drusilla Rush of Georgetown, and Mrs Rambo of Danville, widow of Police Officer Thomas Rambo who died only a few weeks ago. Of the nine brothers and sisters of Mrs Grimes but one is now living. He is Spencer Shumate of Lexington, Ky. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning from the family residence. Interment will be at Cline cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret J. Van Vickle Passes Away
Mrs. Mary Margaret Johnson Van Vickle, wife of Everett Van Vickle, residing on rural route two, seven miles northwest of Danville, passed away at the family residence at 6 o'clock last evening following a long illness.
Funeral services are to be held Thursday afternoon at the Union Corners church at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in the Johnson cemetery.
Mrs. Van Vickle was born in Illinois Aug. 23, 1861 and was 61 years of age and known to residents of that neighborhood as "Aunt Mary". She was born and raised in the neighborhood in which she died and is survived by six sons. They are Charley, Bart and Mac, all of Iowa, Coy, Ray and Jewell who reside near the old home place. She leaves to mourn her besides her six sons, three brothers. They are James, Joseph and Edward Johnson, all of this county. Another brother, Charles Johnson preceded her in death just three months ago.
There are also a host of grandchildren and friends.

A Large Funeral
The funeral service for Mrs. Minerva E. Clem, wife of Jacob Clem was held at the family residence in Blount Township yesterday morning at 10 o'clock. Reverend Isaac Embree, assisted by Reverend Thomas Snyder officiated. There was a very large attendance of old friends and neighbors and many expressions of sorrow and sympathy. Interment occurred in the Johnson Cemetery.

263 DANVILLE – Charity M. Reeves, 84, of Danville died at 11:45 p.m. Monday (Feb. 11, 2008) in Danville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church, 920 Warrington Ave., Danville. The Rev. Allan Rudie and the Rev. Peter Wright will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

264 DANVILLE – Wilma Hotsinpiller, 87, of Danville passed away on Sept. 27, 2008, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville.

Wilma was born March 31, 1921, a daughter of Russell and Viola Tracie Cline. She married Mason Hotsinpiller in 1940. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Wilma was a loving and caring mother of sons Denney and Steven Hotsinpiller. Steven preceded her in 1996. She is survived by a son, Denny; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, H.R. "Red" Cline of Sarasota, Fla.

Wilma was a graduate of Oakwood High School. In her working life, Wilma was a ladies fashion expert and worked at several ladies clothing stores in Danville. Before her eyesight failed, Wilma was an avid and sensitive reader; her favorite work of fiction was Harper Lee's To Kill A Mockingbird. She collected figurine angels and enjoyed flowers and gardening.

A celebration of Wilma's life will be held at a future time when the extended family can congregate. Per her and her family's wishes, she will be cremated at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.

265 Danville's oldest minister is dead.
Rev. John J. Cosat, in ministry fifty-five years, passed away yesterday - born in country.
Rev. John J. Cosat, who devoted his time and labors for more than a half century to the ministry of the Christian church, and who was one of the oldest residents of Vermilion county, having been born on a farm in Blount township, about six miles northwest of the city, is dead following a long illness from paralysis and a complication of other diseases.

She was a former Hoopeston, Ill., resident. She was a member of the Old Union Church of Christ.
Born Sept. 18, 1909, in Blount Township, daughter of William Ross and Mabel Swisher Johnson. She was married on Nov. 26, 1927, to Lawrence R. Reese in Covington, Ind. He preceded her May 28, 1986.
Survivors: two sons, Robert of Danville and James of Rock Falls, Ill., six daughters, Evelyn White and Helen Warner, both of Alvin, Ill., Lois Resse of Berwyn, Ill., Irene Maul of Hoopeston, Ill., Donna Heideman of Crete, Ill., and Bonnie Allen of Chicago; two brothers, Harlan W. Johnson of Montezuma, Ind., and Herman D. Johnson of Crystal River, Fla., tow sisters, Lois Massey and Louise Potter, both of Danville; 26 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Lakeside Funeral Chapel; Officiating: Roger James and D. Eugene Houpt; Burial: Johnson Cemetery. Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home; Memorials: Pleasant Meadows Christian Village, Chrisman, Ill.

Lawrence Robert Reese, 76, of 3727 Illinois, formerly of Hoopeston, Ill., died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday (May 28, 1986) at Lakeview Medical Center.
He was a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 269. He had farmed for several years in the Hoopeston area and had formerly worked at the C&EI Railroad Oaklawn Shops.
He was a member of the Old Union Church of Christ. Born Dec. 5, 1909, in Vermilion Co., Ill., son of Isaac Edward and Cora Norris Reese. Hew was married On Nov. 26, 1927, in Covington, Ind., to Hazel Fern Johnson. She survives.
Also surviving: two sons, James of Rock Falls, Ill., and Robert of Danville; six daughters, Mrs. William (Evelyn) White and Mrs. Jerry (Helen) Warner, both of Alvin, Ill., Lois Reese of Berwyn, Ill., Mrs. Glenn (Irene) Maul of Hoopeston, Ill., Mrs. John (Donna) Heideman of Crete, Ill, and Bonnie Allen of Chicago; three brothers, George of Tucson, Ariz., Bill of Hallsville, Texas, and LeRoy of Danville; two sisters, Ruth Fields of Covington, and Edna Davis of Danville; 26 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

268 Danville- Betty Jane Atwood, 88, of Danville passed away at 8:13 pm on August 6, 2016 surrounded by her family. Betty was born on February 22, 1928 the daughter of Henry Elmer and Marguerite (Brown) Bloomfield in Muncie, IL. She married Billy Vern Atwood on March 22, 1946 in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2015.
Survivors include three daughters; Vickie (Tom) Edwards, Debbie (George) Burnett and Sherrie (Ron) Shoemaker all of Danville, IL, three sisters; LaVern Gill of Westville, IL, Patty Rudd of Danville, IL and Norma (Charles) Arnett of Culver, IN, seven grandchildren; Craig (Shelly) Edwards of Oakwood, IL, Kimberly (Vince) Savage of Danville, IL, Eric (Tobi) Burnett of Danville, IL, Shawn (Jennifer) Burnett of St Joseph, IL, Shanna (Shawn) Flynn of Colleyville, TX, Clay Shoemaker of Danville, IL and Rosa (Brandon) Lee of Urbana, IL, twelve great grandchildren; Tyler Knight, Abbie Knight, Sadie Edwards, Andy Savage, Thomas Savage, Bryce Burnett, Brennan Burnett, Colin Burnett, Ethan Burnett, Chloe Flynn, Ella Flynn, and Palmer Flynn.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Billy, one daughter; Judith K. Atwood, two brothers; Bill Bloomfield and Jim Bloomfield, three sisters; Mary Young, Annie Cundiff, and LulaBell White.
Betty was a longtime member of the Cedar Grove Church of the Nazarene, where she served in a variety of positions, most notably serving as Secretary for the church board. She was retired from the Food Services Department at the Illiana VA Medical Center in Danville. She enjoyed spending her free time flower and vegetable gardening, mowing the grass and helping her husband farm. She especially loved her family coming home to enjoy her homemade noodles and pies. If you needed help, Betty was there and was known as the Peacemaker.
