- Carol A. Young Gritten, 67, of Williamsport, died at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, in the Seton Specialty Hospital, Lafayette. She had been ill since January.
Born in Attica on May 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Lewis M. Jr. and Pauline M. Karlson Young. She was raised in Attica, graduated from Attica High School in 1958 and had lived in Williamsport for several years.
She married Laban E. "Jim" Gritten on Dec. 18, 1959, in Williamsport. He died June 1, 2003.
Mrs. Gritten was a homemaker and formerly attended the Baptist Church in Attica. She enjoyed riding four-wheelers and fishing. She was a sports fan and followed Indiana University basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.
Surviving are a son, Randy Lee Gritten of Williamsport; a stepson, Sam Gritten (wife: Sharon) of Attica; three sisters, Patricia Young of Williamsport, Joni Baker (husband: Randy) of Attica and Betty Jo Young of Brazil, Ind.; three brothers, John Young and James Young (wife: Janet), both of Attica, and Richard Young (wife: Goyita) of Crawfordsville.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m., the Rev. John Adams officiating. Interment Highland Cemetery, Williamsport. Surviving is her pet basset hound, Casey. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Young, on July 27, 2003. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
