Wm. W. Peckham was born in Holmes Co., Ohio, in 1835 and died July 22, 1913. He moved to Iowa in 1848 and has since resided in Appanoose County. He was married to Lydia Ann Hawkins in 1857. To this union were born nine children, one dying in infancy and eight lived to maturity. Those surviving are Mrs. Nancy Henkle, James of near Exline, John of Mystic, and Mrs. G. W. Ross of Cincinnati. Five sisters are living, Emma of Ranchester, Wyo., Clara of Centerville, Isabelle of Ottumwa, Mattie of Poweshiek Co., and Rebecca Milburn of Mystic. His brother John resides in Kansas. His wife died Jan 1893 and he was again married in 1895 to Amanda Ellis Muller who died in Oct 1911. He was a Methodist and a truly religious man. Funeral services were at Zoar Chapel July 23, Rev. H. W. Cannon preaching from Job 30:23 and interment was made at Zoar Cemetery.
