- Mark Joseph Bryant, 55, Dies Suddenly; Rites Held Monday

Services were held Monday at the Homer Methodist Church for Mark Joseph Bryant, 55, who died at 2:15 a.m. at his home Oct. 27, 1967. He had been ill several years with a heart condition. Rev. Eldon O. Gourley of Danville officiated at the service and burial was in the GAR cemetery at Homer. Pallbears were Wilbur Wright of Sidney, Wayne Wax, Bill Fonner, R. C. McDaniel, Ronald Fitzsimmons and Loren McElwee of Hume. The Hornold Funeral Home, Sidell had charge of the arrangements. Mr. Bryant was born at Morrisonville, January 22, 1912, the son of Joseph W. and Eulalla Bowers Bryant. He was married August 12, 1933 to Helen in Danville and she survives. Other survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Linda Harold Ware, two sons, Larry J. of Danville and John M. at home; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Owens of Fairmount, Mrs. Howard Eckerty of Rantoul and Mrs. Wesle Fiester of Cupertine, Calif., and five grandchildren. Mr. Bryant was a farmer and part-time barber. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant came to Sidell 17 ½ years ago from a farm between Homer and Sidney. (transcribed by Homer Historical Society)
