- Robt. Thompson's Life Taken In Accident.
Former Valued Employe of The Star Fatally Injure While on Way to His Work.
Robert W. Thompson, a printer, well-known in this city, was fatally injured Tuesday, at Michigan avenue and One Hundred and Fourth street, Chicago, when a motorcycle in which he was riding ran into a truck. William Buis, owner of the car, was instantly killed and Mr. Thompson was so badly injured that he died shortly after being taken to the Pullman hospital.
"Bob," as he was known to his friends, was a familiar figure here for many years. He was an expert printer and pressman and was employed on The Star for about 15 years. He left The Star about two years ago to take a position with the Calumet Index, and was working there at the time he was injured. He was about 40 years of age, and a genial man, who always did a good day's work, and was held in high esteem by his fellow-workmen, and by all who came in contact with him. He lived with his parents in Blue Island until after he left his employment in the Eights, when he married and settled down in the Washington Heights section of the city. His residence was at One Hundredth street and Normal avenue.
Funeral services will be held at the residence Thursday night, and Friday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, where will be church services under the charge of the I.O.O.F. of which Mr. Thompson was a long-time member.
