PIONEER CHURCH WOMAN OF CITY TAKEN BY DEATH
Mrs. Amy Ellis, For Half Century a Member
      of Baptist Denomination, Succumbs
Amy Abernathy, daughter of James and Zarilda Abernathy, was born June 22, 1856, at their farm home west of Centerville, and died Monday, October 17, 1932, at 9 o'clock p.m., at the age of 76 years, 3 months, 25 days, following an extended period of failing health and one week of critical illness.
On December 12, 1880, she united in marriage with J. W. Ellis, and to this union four children were born, Mrs. Laura Tweedy, of Unionville, Iowa; Charles, who died in infancy; J. Ray Ellis, of this city, and John H. Ellis, of Richland, Iowa. She is also survived by one sister, Miss Rachel Abernathy, of this city, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and nieces and nephews. The husband preceded her in death about sixteen years ago.

Early in life she accepted the Christian faith, and was a faithful member of the First Baptist church for the past half century. Her Christian life, explicit faith and trust in God, was a benediction resting over those with whom she came in daily contact. Her passing was peaceful, with confidence that all is well for the future.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from the First Baptist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. W. Childs. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Amy Ellis, whose death occurred Monday evening at the home on West Maple street, will be held at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, October 19, from the First Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. W. Childs.
Friends wishing to view the remains may do so at the Beckner Funeral home until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
