- Eliza J. Milner passed away suddenly Saturday morning at the age of 68 years. She had been in ill health for some time. Eliza Calvert was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, January 13, 1863. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elijah J. Calvert whose grandfather was a direct descendant of Lord Calvert of Baltimore, Md. She had two sisters and three brothers, one of whom, Albert of Alberta, Canada, survives.
Her family moved from Ohio to Minnesota when the children were very young where they took up life on a homestead. She was married to James Richard Milner in 1877 and soon after moved to the present home, near Rice. There were 12 children, four of whom died when young. Their father followed them in death July 28, 1912.
The surviving sons and daughters are: Mrs. Joseph Orth, St. Paul; Archie, Anoka; Karl, Rice; Mrs. Frank Kedrowski, Sauk Rapids; Lester, St. Cloud: Mrs. Paul Salzburn, Little. Falls; Clinton, Rice; Mrs. Wm. Jorgenson, Ortonville. There are seventeen grandchildren.
The funeral was held in the Presbyterian church, Sartell, Monday. Out of town relatives attending were; Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Ediburn and Marion Milner of Rail Prairie; Philip Ward of Pillager; Mr. and Mrs. Harley Crabtree of Little Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Morgan of Royalton, Mrs. Nick Wolney of Holdingford; Mrs. Joseph Berry of Royalton; Mrs. Joseph Engworth of Royalton and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Tierson of St. Paul.
