Notes - Obituary from the West Union [IA] Gazette, Friday April 8, 1892, p. (1?):
Thursday was one of sad presage in two burials; in the forenoon that of Mrs. Rose Mellendy [sic] daughter of Eli Rogers, living at Westfield, who had a short illness, not many aware of it till the time her funeral was announced. It was a great and severe blow to her parents, and greater in its afflictive nature to four children, very young, deprived of a mothers love and cast upon the world when most in need of it. She was a worthy woman and by an amiable life had made many friends, who assembled in the little church near where she lived, to attend her funeral, at which Elder McCormack presided.
