Notes - Stephen Spencer Shumate (II). He was born in Kentucky circa 1794 and is believed to have died sometime prior to 1784. On 23 march 1819, he married Sarah (Sally) Keith in Harrison County, Kentucky. His name appears in the personal Property Tax Lists of Harrison County, Kentucky, from 1821 through 1829. Although his name does not appear in the tax lists from the period 1830 through 1850, the 1830 and 1850 Federal Census Indexes list him as being a resident of Harrison County. There is some speculation he may have lived in Fayette County after 1830, but the census and other records do not support this contention. There is no further record of him.
