    • Elsie L. Block, 75, Dies In Danville
      Elsie L. Block, 75, of 722 Harmon Ave, Danville, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, May 20, in Lakeview Memorial Hospital, Danville, where she had been a patient since March 31.
      Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Barrick and Son Funeral Home, Danville, with Rev. Maurice Gritton officiating. Burial was in Springhill Cemetery, Danville.
      Mrs. Block was born July 17, 1898 in Bristol, Tenn., a daughter of Joseph and Rochelle Ladd Long. She married Jesse Block, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnel Block of Sidney. He died in March 1957. She had attended the First Presbyterian Church.
      She is survived by 2 sons, Robert of Danville, and Joseph of Merced, Calif., 3 sisters, Mrs. Ida Hansfelder, Collinsville, Ill.; Mrs. Maggie Palmer, Kingsport, Tenn.; Mrs. Carlie Bradshaw, Jonesboro, Tenn.; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded her in death.
      Relatives from Sidney who attended the funeral services were Estor Block, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Erb, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Schwartz and Mrs. Rinehold Hass from Sidell.
      Southern Champaign County Today, Villa Grove, Illinois. Friday, 31 May 1974.
