    GRITTON
    Died at his home on Salt river, last Wednesday night, Mr. N. L. ?? Gritton, aged 84 years. The deceased had from childhood been a consistent member of the Methodist church, and was doubtless ready for the summons. Besides his devoted wife he leaves to mourn their loss, Messrs. William, Orie and Lige, and their sister, Mrs. W. G. Vaughn. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in our village, and the remains laid to rest in Providence cemetery.

    Harrodsburg, Ky., Jan. 7 (Special) - W.J. Gritton, 91, of Salvisa, died at 5:45 o'clock this morning at the A.D. Price Memorial hospital after an illness of three weeks. He was the oldest member of the Methodist church at Salvisa and recently was awarded a hat as the oldest regular attendant at any Sunday school in the county.
    Mr. Gritton was a retired farmer, a descendant of pioneer families and a son of the late Floyd and Sarah Evans Gritton, of Mercer county. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. A.I. Alderson, Harrodsburg; Mrs. B.L. Tribbble, Salvisa; one son, Finley V. Gritton, Salvisa, and two brothers, E.L. Gritton, Summerville, Mo., and O.L. Gritton, Lexington.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist church at Salvisa with burial in Spring Hill cemetery, Harrodsburg.

    Obituary - Gritton
    Edwin Lee Gritton, son of Floyd and Sarah Evans Gritton was born September 16, 1862, in Mercer County, Bondville, Ky., and departed this life in Memorial Hospital, March 20, 1953, making him 90 years, 6 months and 4 days old.
    He was united in marriage to Susan M. Herndon of Anderson county, Kentucky 55 years ago. To this union was born 6 children, four sons and two daughters, all of whom survive, expect one son who died in infancy. Left to mourn his passing is his aged wife, three sons, A.H. of Spokane, Washington, Mitt C., of Hermiston, Ore., W. Terrill of Summersville, Mo., Mrs. Mary E. Taber, Mountain View, Mo., and Mrs. Ada Becker of Mountain View. Also surviving are six devoted grandchildren, Edward Lee, Martha Sue and Al Ray Taber, and Edwin, John Lee and Suehelen Gritton; seven nieces and five nephews, most of whom reside in his home state of Kentucky. Many other relatives, a host of friends and loving neighbors will miss him for to know him was to love him. His parents, four brothers, one of them his twin, and three sisters all preceded him in death.
    He joined the Methodist Church of Salvisa, Ky., very young in life and remained a staunch worker for his Lord until the end.
    After moving to the Western part of the United States with his young family, he was ordained a Methodist minister and followed this work many years before ill health forced him to retire.
    In the early twenties he moved from the west to an Ozark farm in Texas County, near Arroll, Missouri, where he lived, until he and his wife moved with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Becker to Mountain View about six years ago.
    Funeral services were held at the Mountain View Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Neal Neff officiating. Burial was in the Arroll Cemetery.

    Harrodsburg (Spl.) - Mrs. Luella G. Tribble, 75, Bondville, died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday at the James B. Haggin Hospital following a short illness.
    A native of Mercer County, she was born Sept. 23, 1896, and was a retired school teacher and a member of the Salvisa Methodist Church.
    Surviving are one daughter, Miss Sara Allison Tribble, Bondville; one son, Bush Tribble Jr., Salvisa; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Sara Anderson, Harrodsburg.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Alexander and Roylaty Funeral Home. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Charles T. Pinkston will officiate.

    Harrodsburg - Wallace Edwin Gritton, 85, Lexington Street, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
    Born Aug. 26, 1899, in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Lige Davis and Etta Shy Gritton. He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
    A member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church, he was a Mason for 63 years and belonged to Mercer Lodge 777, F&AM.
    His wife Hazel Lee Smith Gritton, preceded him in death.
    He is survived by a sister, Juanita Healy of Salvisa; a brother, Claude S. Gritton of Lawrenceburg; and three nephews.
    Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Ransdell Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. John Hockensmith III. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
    Pallbearers will be Raymond Jones, Haldon Yates, Eddie Drury, Marvin Purdom, Frank Trisler and Marvin Demaree.
    Visitation will be at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today. Masonic services will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. today.

    Harrodsburg (Spl.) - Hazel Lee Smith Gritton, 75, of 332 East Lexington St., wife of Wallace Edwin Gritton, died at 11:35 p.m. Thursday at Haggin Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
    A native of Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late S.D. and Nannie Lee Wiley Smith. She was a teacher in the Mercer County School system for many years, and was a member of Harrodsburg Methodist Church where she had been president of the Women's Missionary Society for several years.
    Additional survivors are five sisters, Mrs. Ada Parson of Harrodsburg, Mrs. Margaret Fabiano of Cincinnati, O., Mrs. Lena McCubbin of Campbellsville, Mrs. Ann Elrod of Louisville and Mrs. Jean Schooler of Lancaster.
    Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. Charles S. Terry and the Rev. Ted Nicholas officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
    Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Saturday.

    She had worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell and was a member of the Salvisa Methodist Church for more than 80 years.
    Survivors include: three nephews, Robert (Rags) Gritton, Harrodsburg, Marshall Gritton, Salvisa, and Floyd Gritton, Owenton.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 26, at the Spring Hill Cemetery with Frank Pennington officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

    Survivors include a stepdaughter, Iris June Ellecamp of Crofton, Mo.; a sister, Juanita Healey of Mercer County; and four step-grandchildren.     Mitt C. Gritton, son of Edwin Lee and Susan Herndon Gritton, was born October 24, 1903, in Mercer County, Kentucky, and departed this life in LaGrande, Oregon, October 3, 1964, at the age of 60 years, 11 months, and 20 days.
    He moved to Baker, Oregon, at the age of 3 years, and spent most of his life in Oregon. He was in the Army in World War II, and has worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 20 years.
    He leaves to mourn his passing, two brothers, A.H. of Spokane Washington, and Terrill, of Summersville, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Taber, and Mrs. Ada V. Becker, of Mtn. View, Mo., two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, two nieces, four nephews, three great nieces, two great nephews. His father, mother, and infant brother preceded him in death.
    Services were held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Arroll Church with Rev. Coy Statler officiating. Burial was in the Arroll Cemetery under the direction of the Duncan Funeral Home.

    He was a veteran of World War II; founder and president of Allsports Boosters at Owen County High School, former deacon of Owenton First Baptist Church, former president of Kentucky Dairy Products Association, former president of Owenton Rotary Club and 50 year Mason - Shriner. He was also a member of the U. K. Alumni Association and Little League.
    Survivors include a son, Marc Gritton of Pewee Valley; three daughters, Judy Cull, Sally Patterson and June Osborne, all of Owen County; a cousin, Albertine Davenport of Lexington; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
    Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at Owen County High School, with burial in Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The Rev. Jesse Bourne and the Rev. Daven Watkins officiated at the services. The McDonald Funeral Home in Owenton was in charge of arrangements.
    Visitation was held on Sunday.
