    NEVA PEARL HORNER
    July 2, 1902-May 18, 1984

    Mrs. Neva Pearl Horner, 81, 1265 Huntly Road, Niles, died at 6:15 pm Friday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, following a five-year illness.

    Born July 5, 1902, in Aix, Ind., the homemaker lived in Niles since 1924, coming from Buchanan. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. On Aug. 23, 1924, in St. Joseph, she married Clarence Horner, who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1983.

    Surviving are three daughters, Patricia A. Horner, Mrs. Barbara Houghteling and Mrs. Marjorie Reed, all of Niles; one brother, Ernest Price of New Buffalo; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Kleine of New Carlisle, Ind. and Mrs. Laura Dohlman of Kalamazoo; two grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

    Services are 1:30 pm today at the Pifer-Smith Funeral Home, Niles, with the Rev. William Fuerstenau of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

    Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation, St. Joseph's Medical Center.

    NILES - Marjorie Reed, 85, of Niles, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 2, 2016, with her family by her side.

    Marjorie was born on August 3, 1931, to the late Clarence and Neva (Price) Horner in Niles. After graduating from Niles High School in 1949, Marjorie worked as a receptionist. On August 20, 1949, she wed Frank Reed. Marjorie loved word find books, playing cards, putting together puzzles, reading romance novels, Michigan football, and always cheered for any team playing against Notre Dame. She was a very loving, caring and gentle soul who was always willing to help those in need. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren who fondly called her

    NILES BABY HURT FATTALLY IN FALL FROM DINING ROOM CHAIR

    A two-year-old Niles boy is dead today following a fall from a dining room chair at his home Thursday afternoon

    Victim of the home tragedy is Rex Allen Houghtelling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Houghtelling, rural route one, Barron Lake.

    The child fell from a dining room chair at his home about 12:30 p.m. yesterday, and suffering from convulsions was rushed to Pawating hospital where he died several minutes after admittance to the emergency room.

    Exact Cause Undetermined

    Coroner William Pifer said that the child apparently died of injuries suffered in the fall. Exact cause of death was undetermined.

    The child is survived by his parents and an infant brother, John. Other survivors are his grandmother, Mrs. Millie Houghtelling; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Horner, great-grandmother, Mrs. Emma Fitzgerald, all of Niles; and great-grandfather, William Price, of Buchanan.

    The youth was born here August 21, 1946.

    Funeral Set for Saturday

    Funeral services will be held at the Pifer funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. T. M. Greenhoe, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Niles, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery. (The Niles Daily Star, p. 1
