Served as a private in the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War.
John Wyatt enlisted in Botetourt County, Virginia, in 1778, in Capt. Joseph Crockett's Company, Col. Abraham Bowman's Regiment.
Was in the Battle of Monmouth.
Re-enlisted December 1778 in Capt. Stud's Company, Col. William Heath's Regiment.
Captured at Charleston, South Carolina, and held prisoner six months.
Served until July 1781.
Volunteered and served under Col. Campbell in Virginia Militia, serving two months until the surrender at Yorktown.
Married to Susana "Susan" Summitt in Kentucky 29th Dec 1784.

- JOHN WYATT seems to have moved to Indiana very shortly
after her death, in about 1824. He himself died in Milroy ten years later, on 17 June 1833. Hardy says: 'He was remembered as an old English gentleman, with powdered hair, knee britches, silver knee and shoe buckles and silk stockings. Of this marriage were born ten children,
