      The Homer Enterprise. Saturday, November 21, 1970, page 1.
      Funeral services for Matthew Lawrence Havard, 64, lifetime resident of Homer, will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 21 in Homer United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Harold Flessner officiating. Interment will be in GAR Cemetery.
      Mr. Havard, who had been a barber in Homer since 1926, died unexpectedly at 1 p.m. Nov. 19. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
      The son of Charles and Stella Yeazel Havard of Homer, he was married Feb. 21, 1927, in Kankakee to Freda Bickel.
      He leaves his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Patricia) Zeisler of Livonia, Mich.; a son, Matthew Lawrence of Rochester; 8 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Ruth) Elliott and Mrs. Ronald (Helen) Anderson, both of Danville.
      He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
      Mr. Havard was a member and elder of the Presbyterian Church and served as Sunday School superintendent for many years. He was the organizer of the homer Alumni Association, charter member and past president of Homer Lions Club, former member of the Homer school board, member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and an honorary member of homer Volunteer Fire Department. He formerly served as a volunteer fireman.
      A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Homer Post 290, American Legion.
      The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Homer High School Student Loan Fund.
