- Haddix
Vergil Franklin Haddix, 1219 Richmond Rd., Berea, died at his home on Thurs. He was born at Lost Creek, Breathitt Co., KY. He was the oldest son of the late Arthur and Maude Noble Haddix. He was in the grocery and meat business in Richmond beginning in 1935. He started Haddix Grocery in 1941. He was a member of White’s Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ohna Isaacs Haddix and is survived by his wife, Lois McCollum Haddix; a daughter, Linda Hatfield and a son, Rodney Haddix, both of Lexington. Also surviving are sisters, Edith DePew, Springfield, OH, Blanche Landrum, Paris, Dove Margenau, Ann Arbor, MI; Brothers, Ross Haddix, Xenia, OH, Bert Haddix, Dayton, OH, Joe Haddix, Fairborn, OH. One sister, Selena Carnahan, Warrne, MI and a brother, Philip Haddix, Lost Creek, preceded him in death. Additional survivors are four grandchildren, Regina Dawson Kingsley, Richmond, Jamie Long, Frankfort, Janice Holbrook, Cincinnati, OH, Heather Haddix, Lexington; a step-grandson, Anthony Rupard, Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Robbie and Kayla Long, Frankfort. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Robert Shaffer on Mon. at 11 a.m. at Lakes Funeral Home, Berea. Visitation will be 3-9 today. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the KY River or White’s Memorial Presbyterian Church, Berea, KY.
