    • Willard Loper
      Newton
      William H. Loper, 91, of Newton, died of a heart ailment Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Newton, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
      Mr. Loper was born in Lamoni and had lived in Newton most of his life. He was a retired mechanic with Maytag Corp. and a member of Archery Club.
      He is survived by his wife, Elsie; a son, Dwaine of Encinitas, Calif.; a daughter, Shirley Kelley of Altoona; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Lind of Colfax; a sister, Myrtie Evans of Waukee; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
      Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
