  • Notes
    • Robert “Bob” Cole, 90, of Johnstown, Ohio, peacefully entered his eternal home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on August 24th, 2013. A Navy veteran, farmer, and retiree of Western Electric, Bob is best remembered as a devoted husband, beloved father, and an adored grandfather.

Known for his seasonal journeys to Florida, his propensity to always eat his dessert first, his lessons and advice about living on a farm, his passion for watching football, his faithful devotion to his late wife, and his love and support for his children and grandchildren in all of their dreams and endeavors, Bob will be greatly missed; however, his family and friends rejoice in the fact that he is now in the arms of his Savior and reunited with his wife of 57 years, “Jinny Ann.”

After serving overseas in the Navy as a shipfitter third class during World War II, Bob worked various jobs to support his beloved family: 3 years of service with Curtiss Wright, 10 years of service with North American, and 25 years of service with Western Electric from which he retired in 1983. In his retirement, he enjoyed farming sheep, riding his various tractors, traveling the country with his wife, listening to big band music, and spending time with his family. Bob attended Franklin Church of New Albany for 32 years.

Bob is preceded in death by his bride of 57 years, Virginia Ann Cole and is survived by his two children Larry Cole (Rita) and Lee Stewart (David); his stepson Richard Worley (Barbara); and his three grandchildren Ashleigh Kraus (Pete), Daniel Stewart, and Trevor Cole.

His family would like to invite friends to honor and remember Bob’s life and legacy at a memorial service to be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Franklin Church 7171 Central College Road, New Albany, OH. The family welcomes visitors beginning at 2:00 p.m. Honorary Military Rites will be conducted by Reynoldsburg VFW Post 9473 following the memorial service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s honor to Franklin Church. Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 North Main Street, in Johnstown is in charge of the arrangements. There will be an online memorial at www.cksammons.com.
