    • George A. Higgins
      George A. Higgins, 83, of 36 Deertree Drive, died Saturday at the Estes Health Care Center after a long illness.
      He was a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., and had lived in Tallahassee for three years. He was a retired executive of United State Steel and had service in the U.S. Navy in World War I. He was also a graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh and was of the Episcopal faith.
      Survivors include two daughters, Claire Witz of Tallahassee and Marjorie H. Phillips of Panacea; three sisters, Katherine Dougall of New York, Sara Hazlett of California and Anna Higgins of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
      Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Culley & Sons Funeral chapel. Burial will follow later in Rosecrans National Cemetery, in San Diego, Calif. Culley & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
