      James (Jim) (Obie) A. Obermeier, 80, of Manchester, Ohio passed away peacefully February 28, 2013.
      Jim was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Buchtel H.S. and is an alumnus of The University of Akron. Jim retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 34 years of service as an electrical engineer.
      Jim was an active parishioner; volunteer and Eucharistic minister at St. Francis de Sale Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
      Jim’s interests included gardening, collecting coins, watching movies, fishing and napping. Jim enjoyed the challenge of fixing anything broken. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife of 47 years and best friend Carol (Mockler) Obermeier and enjoying time picnicking, celebrating holidays, vacationing or just spending time with family.
      Preceded in death by beloved parents, Albert (Curley) and Barbara Obermeier and brother, Richard (Dick) Obermeier.
      He lives on in the memories of his daughters, Pam (Steve) Schott, Michelle (John) Wilson; sons, Don (Barbie) Obermeier, Keith (Jeanne) Obermeier; and grandchildren, Gretchen, Megan, Matt, Coleen, Emilio, Manny, Olivia, Becca, Beth, and Katie, as well as many beloved cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews.
      The family would like to thank the staff of Chapel Hill Retirement Community for their loving care and compassion.
      A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH 44319. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 3, 3 to 7 p.m. at House of Eberhardt Funeral Home, 472 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Rt. 619). Rosary service at 6:30 p.m.
      In lieu of flowers, if you desired, donations may be made to St. Frances de Sales Parish or to Chapel Hill Life Enrichment Fund, 12200 Strausser Street NW, Canal Fulton, OH 44614.
