    • Note on Find a Grave:
Calvin is the son of Pendleton Taylor and Catherine McDaniel Taylor. He was born in Grainger County, Tennessee and moved to Kentucky in 1858 with his parents.

In 1858 after arriving in KY he married Julia Ann Shackelford of Breathitt County, the daughter of Abner Terry Shackelford and Nancy Ann Gossett.

Calvin enlisted in the Union Army and died of typhoid fever shortly after.

      He had 2 children.
      -----------------------------

HANNAH TAYLOR ON THE TOMBSTONE IS CALVIN'S AUNT, NOT HIS WIFE OR DAUGHTER. Calvin's wife was Julia Ann Shackelford Taylor Cope and is burried in Cope Cemetery in Breathitt County.

Calvin and Hannah are probably on the same tombstone because they died within a year and were buried next to each other. The footstone rocks still exist and their distance from the headstone indicate both graves were adults. This seems to confirm that Hannah was not an infant daughter of Calvin Taylor, but the wife of Orville Pinkney Taylor.
