Mary Ann Phipps was born in Bates county, Missouri, July 15, 1845, and passed away at her home in High Point township, July 30, 1919, at the age of 74 years and 15 days. The deceased came to Decatur county when she was a child and has lived here continuously in the locality where she died. She was united in marriage in November 1866 to William Jasper Reynolds, who preceded her to the spirit land two years. She is survived by nine children, five sons and four daughters: Charles A. Reynolds, Mrs. Nettie J. Gilbert, Mrs. Louie E. Gilbert, Mrs. Mary M. Phipps, Mrs. Martha A. Clark, William J. Reynolds, Thomas E. Reynolds, Howard H. Reynolds and James A. Reynolds.
Mrs. Reynolds was a firm believer in Jesus, and lived a good religious life. Her labors on earth are over but her works do follow. Funeral services were held at the residence on Friday, conducted by A. L. Sears and F. A. Garber, and she was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Trullinger cemetery, a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends being in attendance.
