      Lester F. Vance, 76, of 1565 Hawk Circle, Troy, died Thursday at Stouder Memorial Hospital.
      He is survived by his wife, Connie (Ponder) Vance; six children, Lessy H. Vance of Vandalia; Shirley Ann Chapman of Englewood, Bonnie May Vance of Dayton, Robin Peters of Tipp City, Terry Lee Vance of Troy and Ricky Allen Vance of Troy; a sister, Marcella Pearson of Dayton; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
      Mr. Vance was preceded in death by one brother and one granddaughter.
      He was a member of First Baptist Church of Vandalia and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a truck drive with Vandalia Trucking and retired in 1981 from Keyes Fibre in Troy.
      Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Baird Funeral Home, Troy. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Vandalia, with a VFW Memorial Honor Guard service at the graveside. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. Sunday. Contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
