- Sherman R. "Ronnie" Murray, 78, of Glenwood died Friday, January 5, 2007 at Rush Memorial Hospital, Rushville.
On May 5, 1928, he was born in East Bernstadt, KY, the youngest of 17 children of Edmond and Amanda Muncie Murray. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines Corps and retired in 1983 from General Motors in Indianapolis.
He was an avid fan of University of Kentucky basketball and football. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting squirrels and rabbits. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Helen Cregar Murray of Glenwood; five sons and their spouses: James Murray, Bobby Joe Murray both of Panama City, Flordia, Gary & Annie Murray, Frankie & Brenda Murray, Randal Murray all of East Bernstadt, Kentucky; a brother: Larken Murray of Indianapolis; former wife: Anna Rae Lovens of East Bernstadt; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
His parents, his daughter Brenda Sue "Susie" McClure who died May 21, 1996 and fifteen siblings preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor John Reynolds of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel North Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
