    • Ruby E. Furmon, age 83, of Hamilton, died on Thursday, October 23, 2003, at Vitas Hospice at Ft. Hamilton Hospital. Born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, on February 21, 1920, she was the daughter of Ben J. and Cordia (Mullins) Ponder. On September 23, 1939, in Livingston, Kentucky, Ruby married Willie Furmon. Willie preceded her in death on May 8, 1997. They enjoyed wintering together in Bradenton, Florida. Mrs. Furmon was very devoted to her family and an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was active in Sunday School, the Hilltoppers and enjoyed her position as a greeter at the church where she welcomed her friends and church family.

      Ruby is survived by her two children, Charles R. Furmon, Butler County Commissioner, and his wife Peggy of Hamilton, and Carol Sandlin and her husband Gary of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Pam Furmon and Chad Furmon, both of Hamilton, Stephanie Sandlin of Atlanta, Georgia, and Melissa Sandlin Clark and her husband Brian of Richmond, Virginia; brother, Rovy Ponder and his wife Mattie of Hamilton; three sisters, Florence Mullins and her husband Jay of Englewood, Ohio, Christine Phillips of Dayton, Ohio, and Anna Lee McDanell and her husband Frank of Bradenton, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Ruby's mother and her infant brother, Conley, died during childbirth. She was also preceded in death by her father; stepmother, Ella; and brother, Curt Ponder.

      The funeral service will be held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2003, with Pastor Mark Wurzelbacher officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. [4, 5]
