Youth Killed, Two Hurt When Auto Hits Tree
Germantown, June 9 – A 15-year-old Germantown youth was fatally hurt and two companions were injured, when the automobile in which they were riding struck a tree on State route 123, about one a half miles north of here about 3 p.m. Saturday.
Clarence Kidwell, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kidwell, 125 Gunckel St., died en route to Miami Valley hospital, Dayton. Dr. P.A. Kemper said he suffered head injuries and never regained consciousness.
Kidwell, a sophomore in Germantown high school, was riding in a car driven by Charles Trissell, 16, of R.R., Farmersville, in which Don Webster and Fritz Emerick, both of Germantown, were also passengers. The boys reported Trissell lost control of the auto when he turned to avoid a collision with another car. The vehicle swerved from the highway and struck a tree.
Webster received a slight chest injury, and Trissell suffered numerous minor lacerations. Both were treated by dr. Kemper and sent to their homes. Emerick suffered only from shock.
