    • James "Ray" Jefferson age 75 of Miamisburg, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at his residence. Ray was born March 2, 1938 in Hancock County, TN to the late Horace "Hawk" and Ida (Reed) Jefferson.

      In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce, Albert and Jerry Jefferson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth (Bowles) Jefferson; his children, Stevie R. (Darlene) Jefferson of Miamisburg and Tammy L. (Bob) Manor of Wilmington; his granddaughter, Amanda R. (Josh) Allen of Germantown; great grandsons, Jeremy S. and Jordan M.; his sisters, June and Wanda Grace; a brother, Matt; several nieces and nephews; a close family friend, Harry Wells, Jr.; his cat, Pookie as well as many more extended family and friends. After high school, Ray went to work for the iron industry as a foundry worker, grinder and molder for Miami Foundry. This work is what brought him to the area in 1955. Ray never met a stranger and loved to read and garden, but more than anything he enjoyed getting to know those around him through conversation and a little southern humor. Ray was Baptist by faith and had a great appreciation for nature; he will be greatly missed.

      Family will receive friends at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Larry Lambes. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg immediately following services. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in memory of Ray.
