    Frank Ruschill
    Mediapolis – Frank Ruschill died unexpectedly at his home in Flint River township at 6:30 p.m. April 19.
    Apparently in his usual health, Ruschill had been working abut the farm until the day he had retired from full participation in the farm management 6 years ago. A native of Austria, Ruschill was born Jan. 22, 1877, and was brought to the United States when he was 7 years old. On Feb. 26, 1901, he was married to Martha Sommerfeld, who survives, as do 6 children: Elmer Ruschill and Mrs. Florence Stoll, both of Burlington, Mrs. Stella Lucas and Mrs. Beatrice Mehmken, both of Sperry; Mrs. Hattie Nelson, Galesburg, Ill., and Raymond Ruschill, of Mediapolis.
    Also surviving are 2 brothers: Joseph Ruschill, Burlington, and Charles Ruschill, Colfax; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Brothers and sisters died previously.
    Ruschill was a member of the IOOF and Rebekah lodges at Sperry.
    Services will be held at the Sperry Methodist church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Rev. Gerald M. Rosenberge will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial park cemetery, Burlington.
    The body is at the Fry chapel.

    Stella Mae Lucas, 91, of rural Sperry, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1992, at Burlington Medical Center.
    Born June 29, 1901, at Davenport, she was the daughter of Frank and Martha Sommerfeld Ruschill. She married Harry C. Lucas on Feb. 12, 1921, in Dodgeville. He died June 26, 1990.
    She was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and its Ladies Guild and a 50-year member of Bell Rebekah Lodge in Sperry.
    Survivors include five sons, Allan Lucas of Crawfordsville, Wilbur Lucas of Montrose, Lloyd Lucas of Burlington, Russell Lucas of West Burlington and mMrvin Lucas of Thomas, Ill.; three daughters, Marcille Walker of Burlington and Erma Baker and Shirley Granaman, both of Sperry; two sisters, Beatrice Mehmken of Sperry and Hattie Nelson of Galesburg, Ill; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a step great-great-grandchild. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
    The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel. The funeral for Mrs. Lucas will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. John’s United Church of Christ with the Rev. Duane Cavins and Dean Moberg officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A memorial has been established for St. John’s United Church of Christ.

    Elmer Ruschill, 75, of 1328 Brick, died at 8:11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at Elm View Care Center. He was born Jun 10, 1906, at Davenport to Frank and Martha Sommerfelt Ruschill. He married May A. Wunnenberg, December 3, 1930, at Burlington. She died July 22, 1973.
    Mr. Ruschill was a retired truck driver for Midwest Biscuit Co., and later was a doorman at the Palace Theater. He was of the Methodist faith.
    Surviving: three sisters, Mrs. Stella Lucas, and Mrs. Beatrice Mehmken, both of Sperry, and Mrs. Hattie Nelson, Galesburg, Ill.; one brother, Raymond Ruschill, Burlington; several nieces and nephews.

    Kenneth Ruschill Nelson, Galesburg Chapel 89, of Coal Valley, Ill., died at 1:19 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014 in Hope Creek Nursing Home, East Moline, Ill.
    He was born August 29, 1924 in Sperry, Iowa the son of Kermit C. and Hattie M. (Ruschill) Nelson.
    He is survived by his special friend and companion, Scott Markley of Coal Valley and cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Ken worked for Burlington Truck Lines in Galesburg, Moline, and Peoria for 30 years and retired from Consolidated Freightways in Peoria after 12 years. He graduated from Monmouth High School and Brown's Business College. Ken was a member of Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities. He was past president of Galesburg Jaycees and past treasurer of Illinois State Jaycees. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of Alpha Masonic Lodge 155 in Galesburg, the Scottish Rite in Moline, and the Mohammed Shrine in Peoria. Ken was also a member of Delta Nu Alpha Transportation Club in Peoria.
    Ken served in the United States Army, Illinois National Guard, and Army Reserves for 34 years, retiring as Lt. Colonel. He served in Korea and was awarded the Bronze Star.
    Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. Rev. Rich Hendricks will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
