    Zingg, Research Head, Dies at 52
    Austin W. Zingg, 52, chief of the watershed technology branch of the Agriculture Research Service here since 1956, died Tuesday in a Denver hospital, where he had been a patient for five days.
    A resident west of Fort Collins since 1954, Mr. Zingg had filled various jobs with the U.S. Department of Agriculture since he graduated from Iowa State College in 1930 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture engineering. He received a master's degree at Kansas State College in 1952.
    He served as supervisor for erosion control studies in 17 Western states, with headquarters here, for three years prior to his appointment as watershed chief.

    Born Dec. 20, 1906, in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Mr. Zingg married the former Bernice Hudson, who survived him, in 1932. They are the parents of two children, Larry, a student at Colorado State University and Ginny, a pupil at fort Collins High School. He also has a brother, Warren Zingg of Tulsa, Okla., and a sister, Mrs. Esther King of Olds, Iowa.
    The funeral has been set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Balmer-Collins & Riddell mortuary, with the Rev. W.J. Hage in charge. Burial will be in Grandview cemetery.

    MHR note: Thaddeus taught school a few terms, beginning at age 17. At 18, he preached his first sermon when the minister was absent, and in 1885 was ordained at Pleasant Mount near Georgetown, Illinois. When 80 years old he had preached 54 years and had been district evangelist in Indiana and state evangelist for Ohio, Nebraska and Missouri. He was evangelist and pastor in Missouri for 27 years. He was 11 when they visited his grandparents in the squared log house so that would have been about 1870.

    Fred Hedges' Parents Are Wed 65 Years. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hedges returner early this morning from South Haven, Kas., where they attended a family reunion honoring the 65th wedding anniversary of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Hedges. Mr. and Mrs. Hedges were married February 19, 1882, at the Christian church
    in Ogden, Ill. Their six children were present at the dinner Wednesday noon. They are Herbert Hedges. Kansas City, the Rev. A. A Hedges and Bert Hedges, Wichita,
    Kas., Fred Hedges of Moberly, Mrs. Neill Heeney, South Haven, and Mrs. Grace Tallman, Canton. Mo. Mr. Hedges is 87 years old and Mrs. Hedges is 84 years old.

    Capt. P.T. Hedges Dies In Illinois
    Deceased Was Father of Rev. T.A. Hedges, Pastor of Christian Church.
    Capt. P.T. Hedges, aged ninety-three years, five months and seven days, died at his home in Danville, Ill., Thursday of last week. He was a father of Rev. T.A. Hedges, pastor of the First Christian church of Thomas.
    Rev. Hedges left here June the 10th and arrived in Danville at 1 p.m. the following day. His father knew him and conversed with his son regarding that he would be kept on the go to return to Thomas in time to preach the following Sunday. Mr. Hedges emphasized the fact that he wished his son to carry on his preaching, consequently when Mr. Hedges died the Rev. Hedges left Danville and arrived home Saturday and delivered a sermon Sunday morning at a joint meeting of Thomas and Hydro Christian churches which was held on Bear creek.
    Rev. A.A. Hedges of Hydro occupied the pulpit of the local Christian church Sunday night.

    T.A. Hedges held a revival meeting at Center Point Church, near Fairmount, Illinois, commencing on 22 August 1939 and lasting 10 days, no additions to the congregation were made.


    Column Contributor to Weekly Newspaper Dies at Age of 98.

    South Haven, Kan., July 6 – T.A. Hedges, for many years a column contributor to the South Haven New Era weekly newspaper under the title ”Brother Hedges Says,” has died at the age of 98.
    A native of Kentucky, he attended University of Illinois and Eureka Bible College, after which he entered the ministry of the Christian church. He was married in Illinois to Mary Virginia Adkinson who died six years ago.
    The Rev. Mr. Hedges had held church pastorates in Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and at one time served as state evangelist in Nebraska and in Missouri.
    Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Heeney of South Haven, and Mrs. Grace Tallman, of Lakin, Kan., and three sons, A.A. Hedges of Wichita, Herbert Hedges of Kansas City, Mo., and Fred Hedges of Moberly, Mo.

    Mrs. T. A. Hedges aged 86 of South Haven, Kan., the mother of Bert A. Hedges and Arthur A. Hedges of Wichita, died Sunday. She had been a resident of Kansas for more than 25 years.
    Born Nov. 29, 1862, in Parkersburg, W. Va., she was the wife of Rev. T. A. Hedges of South Haven, an evangelist of the Christian church, and had lived in several midwestern states, with one son born in Ohio, one in Nebraska, a son and daughter born in Indiana, a son and daughter in Illinois and two daughters in Missouri. Two daughters preceded her in death. Rev. and Mrs. Hedges celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on February 19.
    Other survivors include: two sons, Herbert A. Hedges of Kansas City, and Fred A. Hedges of Moberly, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Neil Henney of South Haven nd Mrs. Lem Tallman of Canton, Mo.; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Funeral and burial services will be held Tuesday in South Haven, with her four sons, a son-in-law and a grandson acting as pallbearers.
