    Four Perish In Headon Auto Crash
    De Kalb (Special) – Four persons were fatally injured in a headon automobile wreck Friday afternoon near DeKalb.
    Dead are Kenneth H. Crouch, 28, DeKalb; his two-year-old son, Kenneth Jr., and five-year-old daughter, Janet, and Mrs. Florence Spolum, 56, Rt.1, Maple Park.
    Crouch’s wife, Maxine, 30, was reported in critical condition in DeKalb Public Hospital, and another daughter, Angela, 9, was in serious condition with a fractured leg.
    The accident, on Alt. Rt.30 about 2 1/2 miles west of DeKalb, reportedly occurred when a car driven by Mrs. Spolum swerved into Crouch’s lane of traffic.

    Kenneth Crouch
    Kenneth Crouch was born on February 17, 1929, in Bluford. He and his family had lived in DeKalb approximately six years and he was employed as a woodworker at the Rudolph Wurlitzer plant.
    Crouch was the father of three children, Kenneth Jr. and Janice, who were killed in the disastrous accident; and Angela Sue, 9. His injured wife, Maxine also survives.
    Also surviving are seven sisters and four brothers including Mrs. Carl Ellis, rural DeKalb; Mrs. Paul Finn, Belvidere; Mrs. Adie Jackson, Kingston and William and Tom Crouch, both of DeKalb.
    The bodies of Mr. Crouch and his two children are presently at the Wirtz Funeral Home, where services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
    Arrangements are being completed for later services to be held from the Johnson Funeral Home in Centerville, Ia., and burial will be at Pleasant Cemetery at Cincinnati, Ia.

    Maxine E. Kirkpatrick
    Maxine E. Kirkpatrick, 70, of Sycamore, died Friday, May 31, 1996 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Velma (Logston) Hoskins.
    She married Kenneth Crouch and later married James Kirkpatrick March 7, 1958 in Sycamore. She was a member of Hardee’s Coffee Cluthc.
    She is survived by her husband James Kirkpatrick, of Sycamore; three daughters, Angela (Carl) Wennemar of DeKalb, Roberta Paulsen and Paul Cassity, of Sycamore and Jean (Don) Paulsen, of Sycamore; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Marge Logston.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Claude Lowe; her first husband, Kenneth Crouch; one daughter, Janie Crouch; one son, Herbie Crouch; and one brother, Gene Logston.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at the Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Perssons officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Mound Cemetery, in Somonauk. Visitation will be Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, Ill. 60178.
    A memorial fund has been established in care of the funeral home.

    Funeral Monday For C.C. Crouch
    Funeral services for Charles C. Crough, 79, who died at 12:30 p.m. yesterday at his home in Webber township, will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Oakdale church. The Rev. Bird Green and the Rev. martin will conduct the service and burial will be in Oakdale cemetery.
    Mr. Crouch was the father of 21 children and selected as the “Father of the Day” by the Father’s Day Committee Chairman in a context sponsored by the King City Retailers in June.
    Mr. Crouch was in failing health at the time of the contest and was unable to make the trip to Mt. Vernon to receive the many gifts which were given him by the King City Retailers.
    Sixteen of his children survive. They are: John at home, Glen of Bluford, Melvin of Sikeston, Mo., Charles of Chicago, Thomas of DeKalb, Kenneth of Cincinnati, O., William of Morton, Ill., Mrs. Ross Shields, Mrs. Hattie Rapp, Mrs. Eleanor Gregory of Bluford, Mrs. Ada Jackson of Belle Rive, Mrs. Elfreida of DeKalb, Mrs. Mary Bordon of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Dorothy Finn of Malta, Ill., Mrs. Ruth Ann Phelps and Miss Marcella Crouch of Mt. Vernon. Twenty-one grandchildren also survive.
    Mr. Crouch was a lifetime farmer and resided in Jefferson county for 50 years. He was first married in 1896 to Sarah Craft Martin in Covington, Ind., and in 1915 he married Blanche Orrick, who preceded him in death October 13, 1938.
    The body will lie in state at Comb’s Chapel in Wayne City.
