    Alberta Jean Kissick Lowe, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 4, 2016 at 10:13 P.M.

    She was born August 21, 1929 in New Castle, Indiana. She was the Daughter of Arthur Virgil Kissick and Hazel Olliemae (Sparks) Kissick. Alberta was married to Clyde Kenneth Lowe on July 23, 1949 and they had one Son. They were married for 67 years.

    Alberta loved her Yorkie dog, Fuzzy and taught Fuzzy to shake paws. At her request Fuzzy is being cared for by her Sister, Janet. Alberta enjoyed cooking, sewing and listening to country and religious music.

    Alberta graduated from Spiceland High School in 1945. Starting at age 16, she worked for Horney’s Music Store located at 1215 Race Street in New Castle. She was a sales clerk there for 28 years. She then worked for Caroll Irvine at C&A Music, located at 1414 Broad Street in New Castle for 25 years, until Mr. Irvine’s retirement. Alberta then started her own music store at 1561 Broad Street, retaining the name C&A Music. She operated her store until becoming ill. The store closed October 19, 2015, after having been operated by her Husband and Sister for a short time.

    Alberta was preceded in death by her Husband, Clyde Kenneth Lowe on December 16, 2008 and their Son, James Kenneth Lowe on July 3, 1964. She is also joining her Parents, Arthur and Hazel Kissick, her In-Laws, Emery and Goldie Belcher, one Sister, Sylvia Christine Murphy, three Brothers; Richard Eugene Kissick, Arthur Lennard Kissick and Melvin Howard Kissick,, three Brothers-in-law; James Ewing Smith, Vurl Lowe and Elmer Lowe, and a Sister-in-law, Patsy Kissick, In-laws, Elmer and Betty Walker, in Heaven.

    Alberta is survived by her Sister, Janet Ruth Smith and Companion Gary Logan of New Castle, her Brother Gerald Kissick and Wife, Violet of New Castle, her Sisters-in-law, Marilyn Kissick of Mt. Summit and Evelyn Lowe of New Castle, Step Mother, Neva Kissick of New Castle, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

    Calling will be at Macer-Hall Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Friday December 9, 2016 from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M.

    The Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. with the burial following at South Mound Cemetery. The Pastors Danny Douglas and Donald Raines will be officiating.

    Survivors include his wife, Neva Day Kissick; two sons, Gerald and Melvin; two daughters, Alberta Lowe and Janet Cross; a stepdaughter, Esther Furbee; and three sisters, Cora Selvey, Pearl Collier and Bessie Hill.

    Two sons, Arthur and Richard; a daughter, Sylvia Murphy; and a grandson, Jimmy Lowe, preceded him in death.

    Mr. Kissick was a Kentucky native and attended the First United Methodist Church.

    Mrs. Mary Kissick Hill
    New Castle – Mrs. Mary B. Kissick Hill, 83 years old, died Tuesday following a brief illness. A native of Farmers Ky., she had resided in New Castle for 36 years.
    Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. John Selvy, Mrs. Emma Akers, Mrs. Marshall Collier, all of New Castle, and Mrs. Waymon Hill of Jacksonville, Mo.; four sons, Stanly and Cash Kissick of New Castle, Arthur Kissick of Hillsboro and Simon Kissick of Richmond, and 32 grandchildren.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Hill were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Pentecostal church with Rev. Kelley and Rev. Bibbs officiating. Burial was in the South Mound cemetery.

    Typhoid Epidemic
    Mechanicsburg, O., Aug. 20. – Typhoid fever is raging in epidemic form at Plumwood, nine miles east of here. About 20 cases are reported.

    Peculiar – When there was so much typhoid fever in town last year it was remarked as a strange fact that all of the cases were those of residents of the south side of the thoroughfares Main, Sudduth and High streets.
