| 10320 | Note from Find a Grave: (It was confirmed to me, by the cemetery office, this is the only Stanley Hedges, died at age 53, buried in the cemetery. The memorial for this Stanley's father is not correct. It appears his name was placed on the tombstone, with intentions of being buried there, but in fact died and was buried in Ohio. I have requested corrections. In addition, the father died after this Stanley died. The story is not clear if the obituary, stating the senior Stanley died 1st, was an error or if the family did not know) **Lee has not been added as this Stanley's middle name, per family being firm on he did not have a middle name. I respect that and left "Lee" off the memorial. It is not uncommon to be called Sr and Jr merely for clarification & not necessarily that the birth names are the same. | Hedges, Stanley L. (I2779)

| 10335 | Note of Billie Hunt: At this point in time, the parentage and origin of John Hunt, Sr. hasn't been sufficiently proven to my satisfaction, therefore, I won't speculate on those parts of his life, other than to say that his ancestors were definitely of English descent. Some records list our John Hunt, Sr.'s father as being John Hunt, descended from Joseph Hunt, whose father was another John Hunt. When checking English records I found there to be literally hundreds of John Hunts and no distinction could be made that would link to our line. Rather than speculate for the sake of recording ancestry, I have relied on what has been proven through my research and that of many other HUNT researchers. John Hunt (Sr.) Moved from Baltimore Co.,MD to Frederick Co.,VA in 1756. In 1782 moved family to Watauga Settlement, Washington Co., TN. In 1790 they moved to Bourbon Co., KY then to Fleming Co., KY. John Hunt Sr. served as Army Chaplin in Virginia Militia and also served in the Revolutionary War, Virginia, 6th Army as Chaplin. He was a Baptist Minister and three of his sons became Methodist Ministers.! "We can be reasonably sure of our facts back to John Hunt, Sr., but beyond him we are all floundering in the mists of time" Virginia Lee Hunt Underwood.11 Aug 1994.Also KZ33-NQ Shenandoah County, Virginia tax list of 1783 lists the following: John Denton 10 whites John Hunt 7 whites John Overall 8 whites William Overall 8 whites William Tipton 8 whites John Tipton 10 whites Samuel Tipton 2 whites RECORDS of NORTH CAROLINA by: Clark Vol. 22, page 705 The inhabitants of the Western Country: We lament the unhappy dispute between us and our Brethern on the Eastern side of the mountains in respect to erecting a new government. In the Senate, December 1787, read and referred to Court on Public Bills. It was signed by about five hundred (500) inhabitants. Among those signers: John Hunt, Jr., Reuben Hunt, Jonathan Hunt, John Hunt, Sr., Basil Hunt and Lewis Hunt. It appears that John Hunt, Sr. had bought land in Kentucky prior to 1791. The story is: Salt was scarce in Tennessee, so the family decided to move near the salt licks of Kentucky where they could distill and make salt from clay. DEED BOOK A of Mason County, Kentucky pages 119 & 142 4 August, 1791 John Hunt Sr., of Bourbon County, District of Kentucky to: John Hunt Jr and Basil Hunt of Sullivan County, Tennessee, of the new Territory South of the Ohio River, for ninety pounds (90) lawful money of Virginia in hand paid --- 316 acres of land being part of survey made for Jacob Mires on waters of Licking River in County of Mason. signed: John Hunt Sr. Witnessed By: John Cook Alex Ramsey Benjamiin Fitsworth DEED BOOK A of Mason County, Kentucky page 131 13 December, 1791 John Hunt Sr. to: Basil Hunt of said county and state, for one-hundred (100) pounds of current money of Virginia, three-hundred (300) acres on main Licking River on both sides of river in the county of Bourbon and Mason, being part of seven-thousand (7000) acres survey that John Jacob Mires made together with houses, gardens, fences, woods, Underwood's, profits, commodities and other appurtenances. signed: John Hunt Sr. Witnessed By: William Burk Abraham Fitsworth John Linn NOTE: Basil and Colonel John Tipton Hunt were still in Sullivan County, Tennessee 4 August,1791. Basil was in Bourbon/Mason counties by 13 December 1791. Jacob Mires, the man from whom the above land was purchased, was the builder of the famous Bourbon Iron Works/Slate Furnace, located on Hwy. 36, just South of present day Owingsville. It began operation in 1791, just one year before Kentucky became a state and continued operation until the 1870's John Hunt Sr. settled first in Bourbon County, Kentucky, but due to an error, he found he was settled on land that was a part of a Military Survey for a Mr. Wright. In disgust, he moved to Fleming County, Kentucky, sometime before 1799. On 30 October 1810, John Hunt's heirs filed a suit against Thomas Jones Jr., in Bourbon County Circuit Court for recovery of land or money paid for it. The heirs would show their ancestor, John Hunt Sr., did on 1 March 1791 purchase of William Lee, a pre-emption of one-thousand (1000) acres in Bourbon County. Their ancestor discovered that part of that tract was covered by Wright's Military Survey; that parts were sold to divers persons, and leaving that part interfering with said Military Survey; that John Hunt Sr. moved to Fleming County; that a certain Thomas Jones Jr., surveyor, discovered that the balance of Lee's pre-emption did not interfere with Wright's tracts; that the old man, John Hunt Sr., died about 1807 without leaving a will, leaving orators and also another son, John Hunt Jr., who refuses to report the right of his ancestor, and who released his claim to said Thomas Jones Jr., by release dated September 1809; that since the death of John Hunt Sr., not more than three years ago, they discovered the fraud practiced on their ancestor Orators: Reuben hunt, William Basil Hunt, Absolom Hunt, Benjamin Fitsworth and wife, Winny, Joseph Denton and wife, Dradenna. The above document is located in drawer 286 in the Bourbon County Courthouse. Considering the orators listed and John Hunt Jr., it would leave it to reason that Mary, Sarah and Deborah WERE NOT daughters of John Hunt Sr., but may have been nieces. | 10339 | Note on Find a Grave for her son Symon Symon Groot (Symon de Groot or Symon Symonse Groot on some records. [Delete this sentence ] I don't believe Symon Symonse because we show his father was Hugo) was born about 1620 in the Netherlands to Hugo Cornelis and Maria Peter Van Reygersberch de Groot. Rebecca Philipse du Trieux was born about 1630 at New York City, New York County, New York to Phillip Antonse and Suzanne du Chesne du Trieux. Symon came early to New Netherland. He was a boatswain of the ship PRINCE MAURITZ in the service of the West India Company and was living in New York City by 1643. Symon married Rebecca about 1650, probably at New York City, and their children (not sure of order) were: Rebecca, Suzanna, Marietje, Lysbet (#176286789), Symon, Cornelius, Claas, Sarah (#167475267), Philip, Dirk and Abraham. The family moved to Beverwyck (Albany), New York in 1654 and moved on to Schenectady in 1662. Symon and his sons had become farmers by this time. February 8 and 9, 1690, the family were some of the victims of the Schenectady Massacre when the French and Indian allies attacked the village. Symon and his wife Rebecca were in Albany attending a baptism when the attack happened. Their five living sons were taken prisoner and marched to Canada, the trip taking two weeks due to the snow and cold weather. It took over a year to gain the release of all their sons. Symon died in 1699 and is probably buried in Schenectady. Bio by John E. Sherman #47749330 https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/167244760/symon-symonse-groot | du Trieux, Rebecca Philippe (I5804)
