Notes - MHR note: Elmo disappeared 11 August 1902, Fort Douglas, Utah. He is still listed by the Army as a deserter, but probably had been killed in a fight. None of the family ever heard of him again. According to Ida Cronkhite, Elmo had blue eyes. His parents brought him to Illinois but decided "Buck's" health was better in Kentucky and returned to Carter County. Lou was having daily chills the three or four weeks they stayed at P.T. Hedges.
