Philip A. Roller, 87, of Hume died on Friday (Oct. 13, 2017) at Twin Lakes Rehab and Health Care Facility in Paris, Ill.

He was born on June 21, 1930 in Hume, the son of Curtis and Grace C. Roller. His parents and brothers, John C. and Ray E. preceded him in death.

Philip and his wife Waneta L. Smith were married at Paris on July 14, 1949. Waneta survives.

Philip lived in Hume his entire life, was a member of the Hume Christian church and was well-known to multiple generations of the community. He served the Village of Hume as water superintendent for many years.

Philip worked as a plumber and electrician for Roller Electric until the mid-1960s. He then worked at the Illinois Cereal Mill as a journeyman pipefitter until his retirement.

Philip raised two children with Waneta, Cindy (Ray) Smith of Hume and Randy (Sherri) Roller of Seymour, Indiana. His children and their spouses were a great comfort to him in later life.

Philip is also survived by three beloved grandchildren, Anita Pierce (Willem) Bakker of Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Dustin (Kallie) Roller of Crothersville, Indiana and Danielle (Andrew) Kirk of Columbus, Indiana and one great-grandchild, Allen Paul Roller.
