Lena A. Klotz, 97, of La Crosse and formerly of La Crescent, Minn., died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996, in the Hillview Healthcare Center, La Crosse.
She was born Nov. 29, 1898, in Laclede, Mo., to Charles and Emma (Hedges) Gardner. She married Marvin Williams in Riverton, Wyo., on Aug. 9, 1925. He preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1955. In July of 1958, she married Ralph Klotz; he preceded her in death in April of 1984. Lena had taught school for eight years. She was a member of the Riverton Wyoming VFW Auxiliary, the Riverton Eagles Club and the Riverton Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Catherine Linnihan of Minn.; a step-son, Richard (Martha) Klotz of La Crescent, Minn.; five step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mary and Stella Gardner.
In addition to both of her husbands, Lena was preceded in death by two sisters; a step-daughter; and a step-great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 24, in the Mountainview Cemetery, Riverton, Wyo. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, La Crescent, Minn.
