Notes - Fairmount (CNS) - George Wilfred Hickman, 91, a retired farmer, died unexpectedly about 10 p.m. Friday (Jan. 11, 1963) in St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been a patient three days. Born June 14, 1871 on the family homestead east of Fairmount, he was a son of Richard and Achsa Pruden Hickman. He lived his entire life on the farm. On Jan. 1, 1896 he married the former Sadie Hopper at Muncie. She died in 1904. Also preceding him in death were a son, four brothers and a sister. Survivors are three sons, Wilfred and Vernon of Fairmount and Wayne of Joliet. Also, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. S. P. Smith of Olivet. The body is at the Carrington Funeral home, where friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Burton Heleine officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery east of Fairmount. DANVILLE COMMERCIAL-NEWS, 12 Jan. 1963. The obituary's reference to "a sister, Mrs. S. P. Smith of Olivet" refers to a foster daughter of the parents of the deceased.
