Notes - Blankenship
Joseph Speed Blankenship, 84, 1201 Cresant Avenue, formerly of Dayton Beach, Fla., husband of Inez Monroe Blankenship, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital Sunday following an extended illness. He had been employed by Ky. Utilities for 28 years and at the time of his retirement in 1959 he was district manager in Versailles. He was a native of Junction City, son of the late William G. and Susie Hocker Blankenship and a member of the Methodist Church. He was president of the Woodford Co. Chamber of Commerce, 1958, life member of the Lodge No.822, F.&A.M. and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star No.535, Wilmore. Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Paul Price, Mrs. Keller Wells, Mrs. George Grosser, all of Lexington; three sisters, Mrs. Lee Barber, Ark.; Mrs. Stanley Hillard, Mrs. Mary Young, both of Lexington; three brothers, Shannon Blankenship, Garrard Co.; Ben Blankenship, Nicholasville; Clarence (Buck) Blankenship, Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted 3 p.m. today at the W.R. Milward Mortuary-Southland by Rev. Charles W. Bertrand. Burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the local chapter of the American Heart Fund, 125 Barbary Lane, Lexington, Ky. 40503.
