[2] - Nathaniel Tipton was born on July 24, 1826, in Tuscarawas, Ohio, his father, Jonathan, was 25 and his mother, Eleanor, was 24. He married Louisa Jane Cassity April 25, 1852, and they had four children together: Andrew J. Tipton, Mariah Jane Tipton, Nathaniel Reed Tipton and John Hiram Tipton. During the US Civil War, he served in the Missouri State Militia Calvary. After the death of his first wife, he then married Mary Elizabeth (Enfield) Almond Nichols on March 26, 1901, in Milan, Missouri. He died on September 9, 1902, in Sullivan County, Missouri, having lived a long life of 76 years.
