MRS. J. B. BRICKELL DEAD
Mrs. Effie Moore Brickell died at her home, 422 West Eighth, Sunday afternoon at 5:45 o'clock after a sickness of a week. She was the widow of the late Dr. J. B. Brickell.
Mrs. Brickell was born July 26, 1871 in Linneus, Mo. She came to Emporia in 1919 from New Haven, Conn., where Dr. Brickell had been stationed with the U.S. Army during World War I. Before that they had made their home in Americus for a number of years, and after moving to Emporia Dr. Brickell still made frequent trips to Americus to care for patients there.
She is survived by one daughter, Miss Helen Brickell of Bronxville, N.Y., a former teacher at Emporia high school. Mrs. Brickell was a member of the First Congregational church, Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, Beauceant, and Doctor's Wives club.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the First Congregational church, with the Rev. Stephen J. Williams in charge. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn cemetery.
