Notes - James Sumner Blackburn
James Sumner Blackburn, retired Burlington switchman, died Thursday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virgil Shupe.
Services will be held at the Wright Funeral Home at two o’clock Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Evan Routh. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.
Mr. Blackburn retired from his work eight years ago, and had been an invalid since that time.
He was born north of Brookfield June 12, 1881, the son of James and Mary Ellen Blackburn. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Fosher Blackburn, a daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Shupe, a son, Marlin Blackburn, Portland, Oregon, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Neal Wiggins, Ft. Pierce, Florida, and Mrs. Lorena Wolfe, Omaha; two brothers, Silas Blackburn, Preston, mo, and Harrison Blackburn, Purdin.
