Notes - Kenneth E. Norton, Jr., 76, Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015.
He was born September 5, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Kenneth and Laura (Gill) Norton. Kenneth graduated from Topeka High School in 1956. He was a freight carman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years, retiring on September 1, 2000.
Kenneth was a member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Local Union #6887 Railroad workers for 38 years, serving as a Union Officer, Railway Carmen and TCU.
On October 13, 1956 he married Barbara G. Myers in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 3, 1998.
Kenneth married Mary L. Holm on August 14, 1999 in Topeka, she survives. Other survivors include his children, Linda Jo Norton, Topeka; Sheila R. (Mark) Pipkin, San Antonio, TX; David J. (Regina) Norton, Topeka; Donna L. (John) Steele, Lee’s Summit, MO and Allyson Booth, Topeka; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 16 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. [1]
