    • W. Bernice Mathews
      W. Bernice Mathews, 78, Kearney, former co-owner of the Mathews Drug Store in Kearney, died Oct. 21, 1992, at Liberty Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Kearney; burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kearney. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Fry Chapel, Kearney. The family suggests contributions to the church's building fund, the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
      Mrs. Mathews and her husband owned the drugstore from 1957 until they retired in 1975. She was a member of the church. She was a member of the Kearney Chamber of Commerce. She was a past member of the Kearney Rebekah Lodge. She was a lifelong Kearney resident.
      Survivors include her husband, Oren Mathews of the home, and a sister, Helen Waddington, Bakersfield, Calif.
