Notes - Mattix, Aaron D. 47, of Wichita, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017, in Wichita. Closed casket visitation from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017; Service at 11 a.m. Friday, August 4, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Private family graveside service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Aaron was born in Wichita, KS on November 2, 1969, to the late Anita Ruth (Schick) and Jeffrey Clinton Mattix. He served in the U.S. Army, spending most of his time overseas doing surveillance. Aaron was employed as an airworthiness engineer at Northrop Grumman, and previously was a quality inspection supervisor at Bombardier Learjet. He is survived by a daughter, Madeline (Maddie) Mattix of Wichita; sister, Shannon Shoemaker and husband, Jerry of Wichita; companion, Emily Tharp of Wichita; uncle and aunt, Jon and Barbara Mattix; nephews, Levi Davidson and wife, Corina, Kyle Davidson and fianc‚, Heather Banwart, Peter Shoemaker, and Daniel Shoemaker; great-nephew, Dameon; great-niece, Jessaleigh; and several cousins. Aaron was also preceded in death by an infant nephew, Jayden. Memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
