      Rankin – Eli E. Hofer, 92, of Rankin died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 11, 1997) at United Samaritans medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville.
      His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Rankin United Methodist Church, the Rev. Raymond D. Radae officiating. Burial will be in Rankin Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Knapp Funeral Home, Rankin.
      Memorials may be made to Rankin United Methodist Church.
      Survivors include his wife, Fern V. Boyce Hofer; three daughters, Virginia (Dwayne) Barr and Patricia (Michael) Buchue, all of Rankin; and Connie Hofbauer, Indianapolis, Ind.; four sons, Duane E. (Norma) Hofer, Buckley; Marvin L. (Margaret) Hofer and Larry (Sue) Hofer, all of Rankin; and Gordon (Judy) Hofer, Paxton; one sister, Emily Morton, Cissna Park; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
