      Bedford - Mrs. Magdalene Martin Montgomery, age 62, of 1208 Park St., died Wednesday, December 26, 1984, in a Roanoke hospital. She was born July 16, 1922 in Bedford County, daughter of the late William Penn Martin and Mary Magdalene Lafon Martin. She was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from Rubatex Corp. She is survived by her husband, Jack Montgomery; a son, Rodney Kent Montgomery, Springfield, Ill.; two stepsons, Roy Neil Montgomery, Gilbert, W.Va.; Jimmy Montgomery, Newberry, Fla.; two brothers, W. Prince Martin, Thomas M. Martin, both of Bedford; two sisters, Pauline M. Nance, Moneta; Mattie M. Gilkeson, Fairfield, Va.; also four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Howard K. Talley officiating. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bedford Life Saving Crew. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home.
